The American Diabetes Association (ADA) Patient Management Program (PMP) is a web-based interactive, clinical problem-solving Category 1 CME program. The ADA-PMP is an assessment of your clinical decision-making and interpersonal skills regarding data-gathering, diagnosis, therapy, and follow-up of a new patient seen by you.
The ADA-PMP was developed by Professional Evaluation, Inc. (PEI) at the upper level of difficulty similar in type and format to a board certifying examination. It was designed to objectively assess, strengthen, and reinforce your knowledge of diabetes and to provide you with an in-depth learning experience of active engagement.
During each of the four visits by your patient you will be required to complete a series of problems containing courses of action (options) that you may decide to take regarding data-gathering, diagnosis, and management.
Within each problem, you will receive a response to each course of action you select that will provide you with information to make further selections in either the same problem or in subsequent problems regarding diagnosis, management, and follow-up. Each course of action that you select within each problem will be given a plus (+) or minus (-) score based on its importance in the management of the patient at that point in time. Following completion, you will be provided with a confidential total score plus identification of minus scores selected by you, for follow-up study.
Target Audience
Primary Care Physicians, General Internists, Family Physicians, and Nurse Practitioners.
