Head, Neck and Lung Oncology Self-Assessment Program (HNLO-SAP) provides effective strategies for quality care and the best management plan for patients with cancers of the head, neck and lung. Its subject content covers the most commonly encountered cancers in hospital- and office-based adult oncology, including squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck; metastatic carcinoma; small and non-small cell cancers of the lung; epidemiology; screening; molecular biology; biomarkers/signatures; advances in chemoradiation therapy in head, neck and lung cancers; and post-operative management of head, neck and lung cancers.
Target Audience
Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, and Surgical Oncologists.
Learning Objectives
After completing this Category 1 CME program (HNLO-SAP), the practicing oncologist will be better able to:

Describe the epidemiology, pathology, and clinical presentation

of head and neck and lung cancers.

Define standards of care in the treatment of early and

advanced stage head and neck cancer including post-operative adjuvant

therapy, organ preserving strategies, concurrent chemoradiation

therapy, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Define standards of care for the treatment of recurrent

or metastatic head and neck cancer.

Define current management of small cell lung cancer

including the role of chemoradiation therapy in limited-stage and

chemotherapy in extensive-stage disease.

Describe the evidence supporting the use of post-operative

adjuvant chemotherapy in early stage non-small cell lung cancer

(NSCLC) and molecular biomarkers that may define patients most

likely to benefit.

Describe current management of stage III NSCLC.

Describe the current management of metastatic NSCLC

including first-line and second-line therapies; integration

of molecularly-targeted therapy; and patient selection.
